Injustice February 4th

  1. Injustice is caused by people with power abusing their authority on others with less authority.
  2. Injustice is enforced on people with less power which creates victims in people who are disadvantaged.

Conclusion: Injustice happens when those with power victimize those with less power.

My personal experience with injustice was when I was in High school. I went to Natomas High School a heavily populated school with African Americans and Mexicans. The football team was mostly African Americans and a few couple of Mexicans including myself. So one day after our homecoming win myself and a couple of my black friends went out to eat after the game. After we got done eating we got into my friends car and drove off the we noticed that we were being followed by a police officer. After a while of being followed he turned on his lights and pulled us over. Him and his partner pulled up to my friends car with their guns drawn and everything. As a kid you are told that a cop is there to protect you and you should feel safe. They yelled at us and told us to put our hands on our head. One of the cops called for backup. They had us sitting in the car for almost 10 min till their back up came. The 5 cops came and grabbed us and wrestled us to the ground. They kept saying to stop resisting when we weren’t resisting at all. There was only four of us. Two cops took my friend down because he was the biggest one. We kept asking the cops what we did and they just kept telling us to “shut the fuck up”. I never thought in my years of living that I would be a victim of police brutality. Yeah we always seen it on twitter but we never thought it would happen to us. The cops ended up letting us go but never firmly explained anything as to why they did what they did. All they said is that they thought we were other people.

This was injustice because we got racially profiled because of our race. I understand if they were looking for someone and pulled us over just to check. But how they handled the situation drawing their guns and throwing us to the ground was unacceptable. I just hope that no other high school students have to go what we went through that night. To this day my parents don’t know what happened that night.
